Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

Food Dudes is committed to ensuring that its website is accessible to as many users as possible, including people with disabilities. We aim to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. Accessibility and inclusion are central to our mission, and we are continually working to enhance the user experience for all visitors.

Current Status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, due to the issues and limitations listed below.

Areas for Improvement

We are aware of the following areas that do not yet meet full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance:

  • The page title is missing, which may hinder navigation for screen reader users and impact overall accessibility
  • Some text lacks sufficient colour contrast, which may impact readability for users with low vision
  • Some text uses light font weights, which may reduce readability for users with low vision or visual processing difficulties
  • Most of the heading levels are skipped. Headings structure the page and support keyboard navigation. Skipping heading levels can confuse users of assistive technologies
  • Image links missing alternative (alt) text, making them inaccessible to screen readers
  • A link contains no text,  the function or purpose of the link will not be presented to the user. This can introduce confusion for keyboard and screen reader users
  • Some images have the same alternative text, this often causes redundancy or indicates incorrect alternative text
  • External links and downloadable documents (e.g., PDFs) may not be fully accessible, lacking proper tagging, reading order, or text alternatives
  • Content is provided in both English and Gaeilge, but if the language is not correctly identified in the HTML, screen readers may mispronounce text or fail to switch language settings appropriately
  • Embedded iframes lack appropriate title attributes, reducing context for screen reader users
  • Some videos are embedded without captions or transcripts

This list is not exhaustive.
We are continuing to audit and review the site to uncover and resolve additional accessibility barriers.

Exemptions

Some older documents and content are not required, by law, to be made accessible (visit European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies) Regulations 2020 for more information on exemptions).

Planned Improvements

We are committed to improving the accessibility of this website and continue to make updates as part of an ongoing review process. This includes refining content structure, enhancing compatibility with assistive technologies, and addressing any barriers identified through testing and user feedback. Our goal is to ensure a more inclusive and accessible experience for all users over time.
